Riverside, California – July 19, 2021 – Effective October 23, 2021, Bourns will change the ferrite shield material for select Model SRU1028A Series Shielded SMD Power Inductors to a higher thermal resistance material. This change will enhance the inductor's ability to withstand higher temperatures during the reflow soldering process, but there will be no change to the performance specifications of the affected part numbers. The new material has similar electrical properties to the existing shield material.
The form and fit of the inductors will remain the same. The function of the inductors will not change based on the criteria and measurements set forth in the applicable data sheet. The reliability and quality should be improved due to the higher thermal resistance of the ferrite shield material.
