■A communication letter was sent in September 2021, with a Product Change Notification following in June 2022 regarding EU REACH Regulations (see attached documents). It was communicated that, due to these REACH Regulations, EU Copper Foil suppliers would discontinue the use of Arsenic Acid in the manufacturing process. Based on evaluations by our copper foil suppliers, Rogers internal fabrication, reliability, and electrical testing, and assessments by multiple customers of our substrate materials, we do not consider this to be a major change. Legacy and Arsenic Free clad laminates can be used interchangeably.
■Products Effected and Key Dates
▲In the June 2022 Product Change Notification, Rogers' planned conversion timeline for most products was Q4 2022. Due to global supply chain and inventory management coordination, the timelines have been modified (See table below). Orders placed after the transition dates listed will be automatically converted to the Arsenic Free version. Some SKUs may have inventory past the conversion date. For orders placed prior to the transition period, Rogers will evaluate each instance individually and communicate which copper type will be utilized for successful order completion.
▲As a reminder, Rogers' material that is impacted by this regulation are those clad with electrodeposited (ED) foil including reverse treat. Rogers' materials with rolled copper foil, LoPro®, IM-Series, and heavy metal claddings are NOT impacted.
